Web3 company Aptos raises $150 million in Series A funding led by FTX and Jump Crypto
Web3 unicorn startup Aptos, founded by former Meta programmers Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, raised $150 million in a Series A round co-led by FTX Ventures and Jump Crypto.
Other participants included Andreessen Horowitz, Apollo, Circle Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Griffin Gaming Partners, and Superscript. In addition, the startup is still supported by a16z and Multicoin Capital, which were part of Aptos’ previous fundraising in March, along with Tiger Global.
The blockchain company has raised $350 million in 2022 and has set plans to invest in further developing the secure and scalable Layer 1 blockchain that uses Diem’s Move programming language. The funds will also advance the company’s ventures into the Web3 market.
Aptos has reportedly refused to declare its current valuation, but in March, the firm already exceeded $1 billion. One of the company’s goals is to introduce blockchain technology to a broader audience of people, and it has been working with strategic partners to recognize consumer needs. Another goal of Aptos is to “redefine how developers, brands, and consumers think of, and interact with, web3.”
The financial support will also address the following sectors: finance, social networking, gaming, media, and entertainment.
“Thank you to all of our partners, who instantly recognized the second-to-none talent, technical excellence, and executional capabilities of our team,” the founders of Aptos wrote in a blog. “We look forward to growing the Aptos team, product suite, and community with this funding. Our team will continue to deliver the most seamless experience in blockchain — developing the tooling and resources needed to foster a vibrant, secure, and user-focused ecosystem.”
