In Brief
Musician Carrie Able is set to host an event within the metaverse Somnium Space to unveil the winners of the “Deep Joy” remix contest, a collaboration with John Legend’s web3 music project, OurSong.
The event underscores the growing trend of integrating virtual worlds into artistic endeavors.
Artist and musician Carrie Able is hosting the winner reveal event for her collaboration with John Legend’s web3 music project OurSong inside the metaverse Somnium Space. The 30-minute event will take place on Tuesday, August 22 at 10 am EST and will feature a live performance by Able, where she will also announce the winners of the “Deep Joy” remix contest.
The remix contest invited fans to create their own versions of Carrie Able and John Legend’s song “Deep Joy.” The judges are Able herself, literary artist Sasha Stiles, and Pochang, the co-founder of OurSong. Notably, the winner will receive a Meta Quest 2 headset and a chance to collaborate with Able on a future project.
The winner reveal event will be free and open to the public. To attend, visit the Somnium Space platform and head to the Carrie Able concert hall. Also, the event will be streamed live on Able’s YouTube channel.
Carrie Able has been using the metaverse to connect with fans and perform live concerts. In a tweet, she expressed excitement to host the winner reveal event in Somnium Space and believes it will be a unique and memorable experience for everyone involved.
The “Oursong Deep Joy Remix” challenge was open for submissions from July 10 to August 6. You can listen to the original song here and all the remixes here.
In February 2022, John Legend launched OurSong, an NFT platform converting creative works into NFT trading cards called “Vibes.” Soon after the launch, the platform secured $7.5 million in funding, led by Animoca Brands and Ventures Crypto, enabling global expansion.
