Kanye West changed his mind and is now hopping on the NFT bandwagon
Ye, previously known as Kanye West, filed NFT trademark application under his studio and brand name, Yeezus. The move comes less than half a year after the American rapper publicly criticized NFTs.
According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, Ye’s Web3 plans include creating amusement parks, blockchain-based currencies and tokens, campaign buttons, cosmetics, wearables, Metaverse experiences, TV and radio programming, and retail stores.
In the deleted Instagram post posted on February 1, the music artist wrote he won’t do NFTs and that his focus is on “building real products in the real world.” However, Ye ended the letter with “ask me later,” which suggested that he was on to something.
As per the report by NME, exactly ten years before Ye applied for the 17 NFT trademark applications, he talked in an interview about wanting to build amusement parks. It seems that now the celebrity will fulfill his wishes in the virtual world.
“What I want to do post-Grammys is I want to work on cities, I want to work on amusement parks, I want to change entertainment experiences or life,” Ye said in 2012.
