Metaverse platform The Sandbox introduces its new “Singapore neighborhood,” Lion City.
Lion City includes 512 virtual LANDs. Soon, it will feature over thirty global and regional brands, companies, and intellectual properties. All of these will represent Singapore’s culture through fashion, entertainment, sports, and technology. Notably, The Sandbox’s Singapore team has been building the neighborhood for nine months.
To inaugurate the new virtual location, the company hosted “Singapore Partner Day.” The event was aimed at paving the way for traditional brands to enter the metaverse.
Singapore was chosen to become the first South Asia region to enter The Sandbox thanks to its reputation as a diverse and culturally rich business metropolis. The country is known as an innovation hub that embraces the metaverse and web3 initiatives and features a regulatory environment for emerging technologies. As of today, the island nation tests decentralized technologies and provides a supportive environment.
Thanks to The Sandbox and Partner Day, Singapore companies had a chance to collaborate on the theme of “Scaling Innovation.” The event served as a dynamic platform aimed at industry partners that wish to connect with the web3 ecosystem. During Partner Day, companies had the opportunity to share ideas with innovators and receive strategic insights for the metaverse.
The event featured noted speakers, including the Co-Founder and Chief Operational Officer of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, and the Head of Singapore, George Wong. The discussions focused on the opportunities and possibilities that the metaverse provides. In addition, Lion City Partner Day featured panel talks with ecosystem partners, a product showcase, and a networking session.
“The Sandbox team has laid the foundation for expanding Metaverse opportunities in Singapore by partnering with over 30 brands and IPs. Additionally, we have certified eight local agencies and will continue to onboard new partners, positioning Singapore as a global hub in web3 and the metaverse,” said Sebastien Borget, “Through the creative use of NFTs, we aim to empower talented individuals and inspire new job opportunities. On our Singapore Partner Day, we introduced these partners, shared our long-term vision, and highlighted the Lion City as a cultural hub.”
