Snoop Dogg and Eminem bring the first-ever metaverse-inspired live performance to VMAs
Snoop Dogg and Eminem are preparing an Otherside metaverse-themed live performance for MTV’s Video Music Awards. This Sunday, August 28, the two famous rap singers, holders of BAYC NFTs, will perform a song “From the D 2 the LBC,” featuring Bored Apes.
Every year, the Video Music Awards celebrate the top songs, albums, and artists. Snoop Dogg, Eminem and their hit “From the D 2 the LBC” are nominated for the Best Hip-Hop category. The song was released on June 24. The music event, which on average has a 38 million audience, will now see a performance promoting Web3 and NFT adoption.
It’s the first time in two decades that the two music legends will perform together. The last time they came together was in 2001, for the iconic track “Bitch Please II” from The Marshall Mathers LP. The venture also marks the rappers’ first performance at the VMAs in over ten years. Eminem is the second most nominated artist in VMAs history, after Madonna, with 60 VMAs nominations and 13 awards.
Eminem owns Bored Ape #9055 along with the other 96 NFTs, while Snoop Dogg is even more engaged in the space and is known as an NFT whale, Cozomo de’ Medici. He is also active in The Sandbox metaverse.
The Otherside metaverse the rappers represent in the song is still under development. Yet it has sold over $500 million worth of Otherdeed NFTs, also known as virtual lands of the metaverse. In the OpenSea NFT marketplace, Otherdeed for Otherside collection currently ranks fourth as the top all-time NFT collection.
Despite the grand exposure, Bored Ape Yacht Club’s native token, ApeCoin, is still trading low. The coin is currently at $5.11; it reached a peak of $26 in April.
