ChatGPT and DALL-E 2 are AI models that can create images from textual descriptions, and FRIDA uses them to create its paintings. Using a combination of advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision (CV) techniques, these models can generate images that closely match the description provided by the user.
FRIDA is essentially a robotic hand with a brush that uses AI models to create tangible art. A user first inputs a description of the painting they want—can include a photo, song, or other inspiration. FRIDA then creates a palette and plans the painting before starting to work. FRIDA can adjust the painting in real time, and its AI model allows for multiple iterations of the work to be generated with different palettes and brushstrokes.

However, the user must be present while FRIDA is working, as it is not yet able to complete the task on its own. So far, FRIDA’s paintings have not been compared to those of an artistic genius. With the addition of further artificial intelligence, FRIDA could become even more impressive.
