Macy’s will drop 10,000 free NFTs
Department store Macy’s will launch an NFT collection. The well-known New York-based retailer will release 10,000 free NFTs to celebrate Independence Day.
Macy’s is famous for its July 4 fireworks parade. The NFTs aim to mark the 46th Annual Fireworks event organized by the store. Macy’s did not reveal the NFT artworks yet. Nevertheless, we know that these will feature graphic elements from this year’s parade. The non-fungible tokens will feature three levels of rarity: Classic, Rare, and Ultra Rare.
The NFTs come with utilities. Holders will grant access to Augmented Reality wearables that can be used on social media and video communication platforms.
“As we commemorate our Independence Day with the nation’s largest pyrotechnic celebration, Macy’s wanted to take the fun into the Web3 frontier bringing the revelry to a digital landscape. These free Macy’s Fireworks NFTs will help attract a new set of fans with an easy-to-access implementation that democratizes this emerging space for a mass audience while also embracing a digitally native audience with added utilities, including Augmented Reality wearables,” said the executive producer of Macy’s July 4 Fireworks, Will Cross.
Users must register on Macy’s Discord channel to access pre-mint. Registration for the drop closes on June 27. The NFTs will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis.
