DFINITY Foundation Launches $20M Grant Fund for Asian Blockchain and AI Growth
In Brief
The DFINITY Foundation has announced a $20 million grant to support the growth and development of Asia-based blockchain and AI initiatives.
The organization has also launched the ICP Asia Alliance to drive the adoption of the Internet Computer blockchain.
The DFINITY Foundation (DFINITY), a major contributor to the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) blockchain, today announced a $20 million grant fund to support the growth and development of Asia-based blockchain and AI initiative.
Simultaneously, the not-for-profit research and development organization has also launched the ICP Asia Alliance to drive the adoption of the Internet Computer blockchain.
The DFINITY Foundation said that the Alliance aims to unite various stakeholders. They include government organizations, investors, tech entrepreneurs, universities, developers, and community members.
The organization emphasized Asia’s status as a global hub for web3 and blockchain innovation, pointing to the increasing presence of web3 and blockchain companies expanding into major financial centers like Hong Kong and Singapore.
Therefore, the $20 million grant fund from the ICP Asia Alliance will support Asian developers who are building Web3 infrastructure on the Internet Computer blockchain.
“Asia has emerged as a pivotal region for the Internet Computer and the broader web3 ecosystem. Much of the early support and adoption for ICP and DFINITY originated from Asia, where some of the most talented ICP developers are based,” Dominic Williams, Founder and Chief Scientist of the DFINITY Foundation, said in a statement. “Hong Kong has become a thriving global crypto hub thanks to progressive government initiatives embracing web3 technology, making it the ideal location to launch the new ICP Asia Alliance.”
ICP has established several ICP.Hubs in Asia since the beginning of the year, including Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore. ICP.Hubs promote awareness and adoption, encompassing education, strategic partnerships, and project acceleration.
DFINITY said that ICP.Hubs will collaborate closely with Alliance members to create ICP solutions in key regions. Furthermore, the foundation is forming strategic partnerships with institutions and organizations throughout Asia, with plans for their imminent inclusion in the Alliance.
