SenseTime Unveils SenseNova, the Latest Addition to China’s Large AI Models, Joining Baidu and Alibaba

SenseTime, one of the leading Chinese artificial intelligence companies, has unveiled its latest large AI model, SenseNova, during a live demonstration at its data center in Shanghai. This move by SenseTime is a response to the increasing popularity of the large language models, which has led to a global race among technology companies.

SenseNova includes computer vision, natural language processing, and AI-generated content capabilities, such as a chatbot, image generator, a platform for creating digital avatars, and tools for 3D modeling. The new products were built using the latest edition of SenseNova, which SenseTime has been developing for five years.

SenseTime’s AI applications assist its customers in generating video content quickly, Reuters wrote. The goal is to create a digital environment where the presenter, surroundings, and products are generated in real-time using AI. According to Xu Li, the CEO of SenseTime, the AI-generated live-streaming room runs continuously 24/7, with AI-generating product creation and interactive content. The AI is so advanced that it may even be challenging to discern if the presenter is a real person during nighttime broadcasting.

The company’s CEO showcased the SenseChat chatbot, which could write an email, tell a story about a cat catching a fish, and even script computer codes when prompted by questions. The introduction of SenseNova marks SenseTime’s entry into this competitive market, joining the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, as well as other Chinese technology powerhouses, such as the e-commerce giant Alibaba and the search-engine giant Baidu.

“In China, AI bots will initially develop fast in B2B territory before B2C companies start using them. We need to improve our technological capabilities and fine-tune services to better commercialize AI,”

SCMP cited Xu Li.

SenseTime was established in Hong Kong in 2014 by a team of computer scientists. According to its website, SenseTime is dedicated to driving innovation to create a better future empowered by AI. The AI software company strives to advance AI research and develop affordable and scalable AI software platforms that benefit society and businesses.
