Meta’s next VR headset has officially gotten a release date—Meta Quest Pro is hitting stores later this month. Mark October 25 in your calendars if you want to get your hands on the new Oculus VR headset.

Meta has been teasing the public with information about Project Cambria since last year, promising a “high-end device at a higher price point” than the previous Quest VR headsets. At $1,499.99, the higher price is definitely true—you can get an Occulus Quest 2 for as little as $349.99. Meta Quest Pro includes the headset, Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers, stylus tips, partial light blockers, and a charging dock.

So, let’s have a look at what Meta Quest Pro has to offer, tech-wise.

“We believe VR devices will help usher in the next computing platform—becoming as ubiquitous as laptops and tablets are today—and that people will use them in their everyday lives to access the metaverse.”

This “all-in-one VR headset” promises better performance than its predecessor thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ platform; according to Meta, VR will be able to “run at 50% more power than Meta Quest 2 with better thermal dissipation.” It’s got 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and ten high-res sensors.

The visuals will also be upgraded, with this pancake optics and “two LCD displays use local dimming and quantum dot technology.” The new design also comes with another bonus—the headset will be slimmer than previous Quest iterations and more balanced. With 37% more pixels per inch, the visuals should also be significantly improved. While the design offers better quality, it’s unclear whether it will be better for people dealing with cybersickness.

Meta Quest Pro pre-orders are now open.
