Meta will reveal the Meta Quest 3 VR headset in two weeks, but rumors have already revealed a lot about the device. Meta had initially teased some information in June, but since then, various leaks and a cached webpage have provided a detailed breakdown of the headset’s specifications.
As summarized by SkarredGhost, the leaked Quest3 details include a resolution of 2064 x 2208, an LCD display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a Snapdragon XR2 Gen2 processor. Moreover, Quest 3 boasts 12GB of RAM, a battery life of 2–3 hours, and a field of view of 97° horizontal and 93° vertical.
Notably, the headset supports hardware-based IPD adjustment and features integrated audio. Quest 3 will be available in 128GB and 512GB storage variants and offers connectivity options like USB, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. It incorporates inside-out tracking, a depth sensor, and full RGB cameras for color passthrough.
One of the standout features is its mixed-reality support, boasting high-resolution cameras and a depth sensor for immersive environment scanning. Although the VR community is enthusiastic about this advancement, the widespread popularity of mixed reality depends on the content Meta and its partner studios produce.
Furthermore, leaked information on accessories suggests that Quest 3 includes a Silicone Face Interface, Carrying Case, Elite Strap with Battery, and Charging Dock, which offers improved usability.
The unboxing experience appears straightforward, with the package containing the headset, two controllers, and potentially some accessories.
In pricing, the base 128GB version is expected to retail at $499, while the 512GB version will cost $599. The Meta Quest 3 is slated for release on October 10, with preorders likely starting September 27.
