The Sandbox partners with HSBC to bring rugby into the Metaverse
Decentralized gaming virtual world The Sandbox partners with HSBC, one of the largest banking and financial services institutions, and Index Game to bring rugby into the Metaverse.
The companies introduced an immersive gaming experience of The Hong Kong Sevens to celebrate the much-anticipated Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens 2022 championship, which will take place in Hong Kong on November 4 to 6.
HSBC has prepared a series of rugby quests that will immerse the players in the world of rugby. The Sandbox’s experience will be available starting in November.
It’s worth noting that the partnership between Animoca Brands’ The Sandbox and HSBC took off in March this year when the Hong Kong division of HSBC acquired a plot of virtual real estate LAND to develop future sports and gaming experiences.
“The Metaverse is how people will experience Web3, the next generation of the Internet – using immersive technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, and extended reality. At HSBC, we see great potential to create new experiences through emerging platforms, opening up a world of opportunity for our current and future customers and for the communities we serve,” said the Chief Marketing Officer of the Asia-Pacific division of HSBC, Suresh Balaji.
In September alone, Animoca Brands’ subsidiary introduced several partnerships with well-known brands. Esports and entertainment organization FaZe Clan opted for the Sandbox platform to step into the Web3 space and acquired a 12 x 12 plot of LAND dubbed “FaZe World,” while Renault Korea signed a deal to develop new automobile experiences within the Metaverse.
The Sandbox also partnered with Smobler Studios and 1-Group to host a virtual wedding at the digital version of The Alkaff Mansion in Singapore.
