American retailer of casual apparel Aéropostale partners with MetaversePlus to drop NFTs and virtual world experiences. To launch the initiative, the brand will release an NFT collection dubbed “AeroPax.” It features 30,000 PFP artworks with colorful animal traits created in Aéropostale’s style.
Non-fungible tokens will grant holders access to the brand’s exclusive physical and digital events. In addition, NFT owners will receive limited-edition AeroPax hoodies and a one-time 25% discount at the brand’s online and physical U.S.-based stores. After the collection’s release, individuals will also have the possibility to upgrade their NFTs to virtual avatars.
AeroPax NFTs, each going for $69, are set to be released on March 23 at 9 PM ET. Individuals will be able to mint the tokens on a dedicated page. Notably, collectors will have the option to pay with fiat currencies using regular credit or debit cards.
To celebrate the collection’s release, Aéropostale will raffle out ten Teslas among the brand’s fans, and no purchase is necessary to participate. Individuals wishing to test their luck are invited to check out the brand’s social media channels.
After the NFT drop, the brand will introduce a fashion metaverse called “AeroWorld.” Notably, AeroPax token holders will get early access to the virtual world. In addition, they will have the possibility to use their avatars to play, collect in-game points, and discover the metaverse.
“We’re excited to build an immersive and interactive experience for Aéropostale fans and anyone who craves individuality. AeroPax is unique in that we’re creating an experience free from real-world limitations and societal standards, where people can be their most authentic selves and join forces with like-minded individuals anywhere, using NFTs and virtual experiences,”
said the Co-Founder of MetaversePlus, Noah Loul.
Aéropostale is not the only fast fashion brand to test the possibilities of web3. In December 2022, Forever 21 released a physical apparel collection based on the designs it created for metaverse avatars. GAP partnered with DressX to bring hoodies into the virtual space, while Bershka created a Christmas augmented reality clothing collection.
