Outer Edge | LA 2023 Hosts Hackathon, Winners Announced
Outer Edge has just wrapped up this year’s hackathon, which has brought in approximately 100 hackers from all around the world to compete for amazing prizes. Without further ado, the grand prize winner is the Playtags project. However, it is far from being the only noteworthy project at this year’s Outer Edge Hackathon.
The primary sponsors for the hackathon are blockchain network Skale, lending protocol Hifi, organization Blu3, and NFT platform Ethernity.
- SKALE is a network of interconnected blockchains built to bring speed, decentralization, and security to a universe of UX-friendly web3 applications.
- Hifi Finance is a decentralized lending protocol on the Ethereum blockchain that allows anyone to borrow against their digital assets at a fixed interest rate.
- Blu3 Global is a mission-driven organization that strives for justice and equity for women in technology and blockchain. It sponsors talented and diverse project teams at web3 hackathons to ignite future founders worldwide.
- Ethernity is an authenticated and licensed NFT platform that brings consumers big-name brands and IPs in sports, content, collectibles, and technology to the blockchain by giving NFTs utility in web3 and the metaverse.
Out of 200 applicants, around 100 hackers hailing from all around the world were given a chance to take part in the hackathon. Participants came from China, Germany, Ecuador, France, Bali, the Philippines, and various corners of the US.
Creators used the electric environment of Famecast Studios, where creators are given the tools to reach a global audience with top-notch content. Famecast believes in “liberating Creators from the complexities of technology.” This means freeing creators from figuring out how to manage multiple social accounts, passwords, logins, and cutting and pasting things between websites and apps while helping keep tabs on the legal and privacy issues with data and GDRP and CCPA. As the company puts it, “Famecast automates and integrates everything seamlessly and puts technology to work for you so you can focus on what you do best, Creating and Making Money.”

Outer Edge | LA 2023
While Outer Edge Hackathon is over, Outer Edge LA, running March 20–22, is only just kicking off. The event brings in major names in the web3 community, including Yat Siu, chairman of Animoca brands; Frank DeGods, founder of DeGods & y00ts; Julie Krasnienko Head of Product at DressX, and Sasha Stiles Co-Founder of theVERSEverse. It’s the place to get the most recent news and learn what’s happening in the industry right now.
Monday featured registration along with a VIP welcome dinner and two co-branded parties for Outer Edge with Crypto Mondays and Golden DAO.
Tuesday, March 21, was the first major day of the event, featuring workshops starting at 9 am with industry leaders. The very first workshop gathered the Animoca Brands tokenomics team: Tokenomics Analysts Jerry Lai and Lionel Fock, and Animoca Brand’s Head of Tokenomics Mohamed Ezeldin, who discussed the role of tokenomics in transforming loyalty programs.
Meanwhile, during his fireside conversation, Frank DeGods discussed how to launch a successful project. According to DeGods, “In order to stand out among the noise, you have to do something worth talking about. If you do things that get people excited, the outsized, asymmetric returns are nuts. It’s the only thing worth working on.”
DeGods also announced the upcoming DeGods & y00ts bridges. While he didn’t provide the exact date just yet, he promised a 48-hour warning before it occurred.
Wednesday will see more exciting discussions regarding gaming, music, art, fashion, and all things web3.
