Electronic music-focused platform Beatport has announced its partnership with blockchain network Polkadot. The companies are launching a new web3 platform dedicated to electronic music. The design of the upcoming website was developed in collaboration with the design studio Define Creative.
The new digital space will allow artists, producers, and record labels to fully experience the benefits of web3. At the same time, the release will give music fans the opportunity to connect with their favorite DJs and artists.
Once launched, Beatport will release a set of digital collectibles distributed via web3 solutions provider Aventus. The NFTs will become a fan engagement tool for labels and artists. For instance, the collectibles will grant holders access to unreleased music tracks and discounted concert tickets. In addition, NFT holders will be able to visit VIP areas at artists’ global events.
The companies did not announce the exact launch date of the platform. However, producers, DJs, and music fans can now sign up for the waitlist on a dedicated page.
It’s worth noting that Beatport and Polkadot also plan to host ten major music events during the next eighteen months. According to the official announcement, the events will celebrate the future releases of new collections accessible through Polkadot wallets.
“There is immense opportunity in this market to provide fans access to a variety of new content streams, creating communities with loyalty unlike anything we’ve seen before, and for the artists to reap the majority of the return. We’re thrilled to be a part of this important endeavor for the music industry,”
said the Founder & CEO of Aventus, Alan Vey.
The music industry is gradually stepping into the web3 space. In 2022, old-school music website LimeWire turned into a web3 platform that supports non-fungible tokens. Renowned electronic DJs deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin launched a music metaverse called Pixelynx, while DJ Steve Aoki entered The Sandbox metaverse in the form of voxel avatars.
