Invisibility coat to help keep the wearer in sight of surveillance cameras

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of AI-based video surveillance cameras that use artificial intelligence to recognize people and objects. However, a new invention called InvisDefense has been developed to conceal the wearer from these surveillance cameras.

One of the initiatives that took first place in the Huawei Cup, the inaugural cybersecurity innovation competition supported by Chinese tech giant Huawei, was the InvisDefense coat.

An artificial intelligence-based “invisibility coat” called InvisDefense was developed by Chinese students at Wuhan University to conceal the wearer from surveillance cameras. These outfits run about $71 in price.

Although the invention makes it possible for the camera to record a human, AI doesn’t recognize the presence of a person in the image or video.

The invention is a low-cost coat that may be worn day and night without worrying about being recognized by the many smart video monitoring systems that are installed in every big city.
The InvisDefense coat is a low-cost solution to the problem of being recognized by AI-based video surveillance cameras. It is an effective way to hide from these cameras, and it is also comfortable to wear.

InvisDefense is a coat that is printed with a special algorithm that confuses visible light cameras during the day. It also has built-in thermal sensors that release peculiar heat signals at night in order to confuse infrared cameras. This makes it difficult for the AI to recognize the presence of a person in the image or video.

  • Chinese researchers think that when employing AI on the battlefield, the InvisDefense cloak may be worn as a uniform by soldiers to avoid being seen by drones or other equipment. However, the disadvantage is that some detection systems in self-driving vehicles can be tricked by clothing.
