IMVU and Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova Unite to Create Metaverse Safe Space for Underrepresented Creatives
In Brief
The metaverse space is named Utopia.
Users will go on a metaverse quest to explore the Pussy Riot Pink Church of Feminism.
The first 5,000 eligible users to complete the free metaverse quest will unlock a free Utopia Community NFT
Together Labs, the parent company of web3 social metaverse IMVU and blockchain platform Metajuice, announced its collaboration with Pussy Riot creator, activist and artist Nadya Tolokonnikova at NFT.NYC 2023.
As part of this partnership, IMVU will launch an official community space envisioned by Tolokonnikova called Utopia followed by a limited edition NFT collection within the space.
In Utopia, users will go on a metaverse quest to explore the Pussy Riot Pink Church of Feminism: the name of Tolokonnikova’s official space inside IMVU. At the Pink Church of Feminism, users have the opportunity to interact with one another. The church boasts a main stage with band equipment, allowing anyone to role-play their own punk performance. There is also a dance floor situated beneath interactive clouds and a meditation circle available for use.
“It’s very thrilling to launch Utopia in IMVU and make it feminist, queer, diverse and radical. It has always been a dream of mine to create a Pink Church of Feminism,”
Tolokonnikova said in a statement.
The Pink Church of Feminism is built to promote a welcoming space for all, including women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ creatives. The first 5,000 eligible users to complete the free metaverse quest will unlock a free Utopia Community NFT designed by Tolokonnikova. The NFT will help Utopia members identify one another in other IMVU rooms.
Utopia has plans to drop four exclusive NFT collections in the coming year, with the first one dropping on Apr 14. “A part of the proceeds will fund North Caucasus SOS, an organization helping gay people to safely leave Chechnya, the region of Russia where gay people are gravely in danger,” Tolokonnikova added.
The Pussy Riot Pink Church of Feminism plans to host a series of future IMVU events, including Riot Town Halls with Nadya and other speakers, a “Friends of Nadya” party, a metaverse music festival, future NFT drops, and a pride party in June to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.
Those interested can join Utopia on Friday, Apr 14, by signing in to IMVU and creating an avatar to participate in Tolokonnikova’s first Utopia Quest and NFT drop.
