OpenAI is not engaged in the training process of GPT-5
In Brief
OpenAI is not training GPT5 yet, instead focusing on improving the capabilities of GPT4, the latest version of its Generative Pretrained Transformer model.
Experts calling for a pause on AI development will be glad to hear that OpenAI isn’t currently training GPT5. The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, confirmed that the company is not developing a fifth version of its Generative Pretrained Transformer model. The company is instead focusing on improving the capabilities of GPT4, the latest version.
The new letter says that Altman is not training GPT5 yet. Altman said that they are doing things more than GPT4 does. OpenAI GPT4 is a 175 billion-parameter language model developed by the company. The model has more than one trillion parameters, making it one of the largest language models in existence. OpenAI said GPT4 is more creative and collaborative than ever before, and it can solve difficult problems with greater accuracy. In a simulated law bar exam, GPT3.5 scored around the bottom 10 percent. GPT4, however, passed the exam among the top 10 percent.
OpenAI is one of the leading AI research labs. Its GPT models are used for a wide range of applications, including language translation, chatbots, and content creation. However, the development of large language models has raised concerns about their safety and ethical implications. The continued development of GPT4 and the creation of other models on top of it will raise further questions about the safety and ethical implications of AI models.
- OpenAI is calling for a six-month pause on training AI systems that are more advanced than GPT4. The letter released last month by thousands of tech experts calls for a pause in the advancement of AI technology due to concerns about the risk it poses to society.
- OpenAI is changing its developer policy to address developer and user displeasure with its API. The company is rolling out a 30-day data retention policy for API users, streamlining its terms and data ownership to make it clear that users control the input and output of the models.
