Worldcoin commemorates its launch by releasing an open-edition NFT collectible. The memorabilia token is issued on the NFT marketplace Zora.
On one side, the artwork features Wordcoin’s logo. On the other side, it states: “If successful, we believe Worldcoin could drastically increase economic opportunity, scale a reliable solution for distinguishing humans from AI online while preserving privacy, enable global democratic processes, and eventually show a potential path to AI-funded UBI.” Both sides of the animated artwork feature “Worldcoin” and “July 24,” the day when the project went live.
Notably, individuals can mint the tokens for free for a limited time; the initiative expires on July 31. As of the moment of writing, 5,040 non-fungible tokens have been minted.
Wordcoin is the largest identity and financial public network. It is a decentralized open-source protocol supported by a global community of developers, economists, and technologists. The project aims to expand access to the global digital economy. Wordlcoin was developed by Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, and Alex Blania, the CEO and Co-founder of Tools For Humanity.
The project includes World ID, a digital identification system built to protect privacy. With these features, users can verify their identities and receive a Worldcoin token, WLD. However, not every country has clear rules about users receiving monetary bonuses for registering on platforms. For instance, in the United States, people cannot profit from participating in the project. Aside from that, Worldcoin claims that the WLD is the “first token to be globally and freely distributed to people just for being a unique individual.”
Individuals can now download the World App, the first protocol-compatible wallet, to reserve their shares. After visiting the biometric verification device called Orb, users receive their World IDs. Then, they can receive the WLD token and use the World App, which enables payment, purchases, and transfers globally using digital assets and traditional currencies.
The list of the closest Orbs can be found on the project’s website. Orb visits can also be scheduled on the same page.
