Balenciaga’s designs are on auction as NFTs
Lorenzo Riva launches a collection of NFTs featuring Cristóbal Balenciaga’s designs.
Riva worked as the artistic director of the Spanish fashion house Balenciaga during the 1980s. Later, he received the never-before-seen artworks from the Maison and now auctions them as non-fungible tokens.
For this release, Lorenzo Riva partners with fine art NFT platform Art Vein, Metaverse company Animal Concerts, and Cointelegraph. The NFTs themselves are published on crypto.com’s non-fungible token platform.
Dubbed “To the Moon,” the collection includes 10,000 unique tokens, with 8,300 NFTs featuring Cristóbal Balenciaga’s original drawings. It’s worth noting that some of these designs were created in the 1980s, so the auction participants have an opportunity to become owners of historical fashion memorabilia.
Every pack goes for $100 and contains one random collectible. 50 NFTs in the collection feature Cristóbal’s haute couture designs and are considered the rarest.
All NFTs grant holders access to future whitelists and Metaverse concerts organized by Animal Concerts. Twenty owners of ultra-rare NFTs will receive Cristóbal Balenciaga’s hand drawings and $500 designer gift cards. Five lucky owners of hyper-rare NFTs will get designer wallets and bags.
“With ‘Balenciaga to the Moon,’ haute couture goes into the Metaverse. It comes in with the glamorous style of the 1950s, which was a very elegant time. Contemporary art is all about mixing things up, so we’re happy to start this conversation between the past and the future. The past must be saved, and the future must be fed with treasures from our glorious past,” says a partner at Art Consulting, Romano Ravasio.
The auction is now live on crypto.com. Individuals can participate until July 23.
