VeeFriends collaborates with Macy’s and Toys“R”Us to launch NFT-themed real-life collectibles
In Brief
Through a partnership with Macy’s and Toys”R”Us, VeeFriends launches collectible characters in the form of vinyl figures and plush toys.
Each toy comes with a QR code that tells the character’s story.
Pre-sale is already available; the public sale in Macy’s stores and online start on October 17.
Entrepreneur Gary Vee’s NFT project VeeFriends partners with U.S. department store Macy’s and toy brand Toys“R”Us to transform NFTs into real-life toy characters.
The limited series of figure and plush collectible characters launches on October 17 and will allow anyone to own a physical version of a VeeFriends character. Each physical collectible will have a printed QR code that enables its owner to see a 3D animated short film or a song related to the character.
There will be six plush/figure characters: Be The Bigger Person, Willful Wizard, Gratitude Gorilla, Practical Peacock, Genuine Giraffe, and Common Sense Cow. Gary Vee selected the six from 283 collectibles in his VeeFriends first collection.
Gary Vee said that the thought of VeeFriends appearing in Toys“R”Us and Macy’s stores is incredible:
“I fondly remember growing up in Edison, New Jersey, walking down these stores’ aisles as a kid. We chose characters that we think embody exciting features for first-time collectors, much like some of the toys I picked up on the shelves of Toys “R” Us the first time. I can’t wait to see them in-store and on the shelves — it’s a full circle moment for me and a very big step for the company.”
Selected holders of VeeFriend NFTs will have early access to the plush and vinyl figure collections. The community members will also get priority access to RSVP and in-store events.
“It’s just one more way we want to connect with our community and show them the development of the IP behind the characters,”
said Andy Kraniak, president of VeeFriends.
The toys were designed by the British entertainment company Toikido. The plush collectibles (size “10) will cost $24.99, while figure collectibles (size “6) will be priced at $29.99. They are already available for pre-order and will be available at macys.com as well as in Macy’s physical stores. International purchases will go through shop.veefriends.com. The public sale begins on October 17.
Gary Vee will organize two in-store appearances to celebrate the release: in Chicago on October 17 and in New York City on October 21. He will also take part in Macy’s Live streaming show.
According to data by CryptoSlam, VeeFriends NFTs have surpassed $240 million in trading volume and have a floor price of 5.96 ETH.
