Crypto payment service provider MoonPay has acquired web3-focused creative agency Nightshift for an undisclosed sum. The latter is rebranded to “Otherlife” as part of the deal.
This is a big move for MoonPay, which has been growing rapidly since its 2018 launch. The company has raised $642 million in funding to date. The provider is now used by over 5 million customers and has partnered with noted companies such as Nike, Fox, and Universal Parks.
The acquisition of Nightshift will allow MoonPay to broaden the list of its services and provide end-to-end solutions to its clients willing to step into the web3 space. With its team of experienced professionals, the now-called-Otherlife agency will be able to help MoonPay’s clients creatively navigate the world of web3.
Among Nightshift’s existing clients are tech giants Shopify and Adobe. The creative agency’s portfolio also features The Hundreds, Coinbase, and Collab.Land.
“What Nightshift has done really well is show people what Web3 experiences can be and how they can deepen brand engagement. And at the end of the day, if you can show clients how they can be more successful, they don’t care if it’s Web1, Web2 or Web3—they just want to be more successful,” said the enterprise president of MoonPay, Keith Grossman.
Before acquiring a specialized agency, MoonPay introduced several creative initiatives in 2022. In April, the startup published its fashion NFT collection in collaboration with Fondation Vasarely, designer Paco Rabanne, and Selfridges. In June, the fintech company launched the NFT platform Hypermint in partnership with Universal Pictures, Fox Corporation, and Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Records.
