Central Saint Martins Partners With Myami for Digital Fashion Projects

Central Saint Martins partners with digital fashion brand Myami for digital fashion projects. Central Saint Martins, a public art school, is a constituent college of the University of the Arts London. Founded in 1989, it is considered one of the world’s best institutions that provide fashion education.

Myami is a Sydney-based brand that has previously developed stingray water puffers and Ice Runner trainers. The partnership with the company enables Central Saint Martins fashion students to discover the benefits of digital fashion and how it can be linked to physical one. Over forty students are granted access to Myami’s technological developments as part of the collaboration. For instance, they can utilize pixel fabrics and technology roadmap. The tools can be used to complete university projects relative to students’ fields. Selected individuals come from different backgrounds: strategy, image, brand, editorial, and content.

“We hope to inspire and ready the next generation of fashion’s brightest talents in shaping a future where everyone can experience the transformative power of fashion in both its physical and digital form, wherever they choose to appear,” said the founder of Myami, Brad Morris.

Notably, Central Saint Martins is not the first traditional art school to educate fashion students on digital fashion and AR. Earlier this year, Istituto Marangoni introduced courses on metaverse, augmented reality, and 3D. The “digital technology and innovation” programs aim to make students explore “the mind-blowing creative opportunities brought by immersive technologies.”

For instance, one of the university’s programs, “Digital Design for Immersive Experiences,” will teach students how to bridge the physical and digital worlds and leverage the power of immersive installations. Participants will be taught how to set an environment, turn it into a scenario for a social-media-friendly immersive experience, and choose the most suitable interaction method.
