GROK
What is GROK?
GROK is an AI assistant developed by a company previously associated with Twitter and now operating under the name X. It’s positioned as an alternative to ChatGPT, with a primary focus on providing real-time access to Twitter content. The key selling point of GROK is its ability to respond to “urgent” or time-sensitive questions that might go unanswered by other AI bots.
Understanding GROK
In terms of performance metrics, GROK outperforms Llama-2 and ChatGPT-3.5 but falls behind GPT-4. It’s expected to be made available through a subscription service called X Premium+ at a cost of $16 per month, although it’s currently in a waitlist phase (https://grok.x.ai/).
Future updates for GROK include plans for multimodality, which means it will be capable of understanding images and decoding audio. The contextual window for processing information will also be expanded from the current 8,000 tokens (or 25,000 characters). Additionally, there are plans to introduce an API for developers, as well as a localized version of the assistant designed for integration into Tesla cars.
