In Brief
Levi Strauss & Co. has partnered with Lalaland.ai, a digital fashion studio that creates customized AI-generated models.
The initiative is set to launch later this year and will present AI models in different body types, skin colors, and ages, allowing customers to see how products might look on them.
Levi’. plans to test the use of these models to supplement human models, increasing the number and diversity of models for their product
Levi Strauss & Co has announced a new partnership with Lalaland.ai, a digital fashion studio specializing in AI-generated models. This innovative collaboration will allow Levi’s to increase the number and diversity of models used to showcase its products.
Through AI-generated models, the iconic denim company plans to present its clothing on different body types, skin colors, and ages. This approach will give consumers a more realistic and personalized view of how the clothing might look on them.
The experiment involving AI-generated models also raises concerns about its potential impact on real models. Levi’s has been implementing cost-cutting measures to save money, which included letting go of 800 employees in 2022.
Levi’s has emphasized diversity, equity, and inclusion as a top priority, recognizing the potential benefits of AI-generated models but not viewing them as the only solution to achieving its goals. Instead, LS&Co. plans to integrate AI-generated models alongside human models to create a more personalized shopping experience for customers. By supplementing human models with AI-generated models, the company aims to promote diversity and inclusivity while enhancing the overall customer experience.
Lalaland.ai offers customers the opportunity to create their unique avatar in under five minutes. With AI technology, Lalaland.ai allows individuals to customize every aspect of their avatar, from the hairstyle and body shape to skin color, ensuring that each avatar reflects the audience they want to reach. The company offers a range of poses, emotions, and other features that customers can select to enhance the overall image of their avatars. Lalaland.ai’s AI-generated avatars are inspired by real people and are unique and realistic.
“While AI will likely never fully replace human models for us, we are excited for the potential capabilities this may afford us for the consumer experience. We see fashion and technology as both an art and a science, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Lalaland.ai, a company with such high-quality technology that can help us continue on our journey for a more diverse and inclusive customer experience,”
said Dr. Amy Gershkoff Bolles, global head of digital and emerging technology strategy at Levi Strauss & Co.
