DressX and Jason Wu release Michelle Obama’s dress NFT
DressX partners with American fashion brand Jason Wu to release Michelle Obama’s Inaugural Ball dress as an NFT.
Jason Wu designed “The Dream” dress for the 2009 Inaugural Ball of the First Lady Michelle Obama. The gown is made of ivory silk chiffon and embellished with organza flowers, crystals, and silver thread embroidery and is currently on display at The National Museum of American History in Washington, DC.
Individuals can participate in the bidding for the AR-version of the dress on the DressX website until August 10. The minimum bid is 8.5 ETH (approximately $9,200 at the time of writing).
Along with the exclusive 1/1 NFT, the holder will receive 4k animated artwork and 4k render stills of the dress. The owner will be able to digitally wear the gown—just like other DressX outfits.
The winner will get two tickets to the Jason Wu show at New York Fashion Week on September 10, with the possibility to access the backstage and meet the designer.
“Fashion is always evolving and changing, and as a fashion designer, I evolve with it,” says Jason Wu.
DressX is the largest augmented reality clothing multi-brand store. The startup has already partnered with Bershka, L’Officiel, American Eagle Outfitters, and other major fashion companies.
Among other fashion brands that recently stepped into the Web3 space are Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne. The companies are developing digital outfits for Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Avatar Store.
