Beeple teases the NFT community with an upcoming IRL studio for creators
In Brief
Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann is building an IRL studio in Charleston, South Carolina
The venue will host digital artwork exhibitions by Beeple and other artists
Digital artist Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann is building an IRL studio for the entire NFT community. The studio, based in Charleston, South Carolina, will host real-life digital art exhibitions of Beeple’s and other creators’ NFT pieces.
The artist believes that real-life experiences of digital artworks could expose NFTs to a new audience and increase the adoption of blockchain technology. Additionally, the space would help creators attract the next wave of collectors, and this is what the community needs during the bear market.
The artist shares his thoughts in a Twitter thread: “The boom happened because suddenly a lot more people learned of what we were doing and believed in it. For that to happen again, we need to find new ways of bringing in collectors who probably now have heard of NFTs but still don’t really “get it”…”
Beeple did not share any additional information about the upcoming studio. However, he teased his 707,900 followers with a video that shows half of the construction.
Beeple is one of the first digital artists to sell an NFT artwork at the then-very-traditional auction Christie’s in 2021. The digital piece, dubbed “EVERYDAYS: the first 5000 days,” was sold for a record-breaking $69.3 million. Beelpe’s success was followed by a TIME Magazine cover feature and an invite to “The Tonight Show.”
