Fortnite Might Soon Feature Nike’s .Swoosh Digital Assets
In Brief
Nike’s web3 platform .Swoosh and Epic Games’ Fortnite collaborate for in-game assets.
The initiative launches on June 20.
Sportswear giant Nike continues its journey into the web3 space, as the company’s web3 platform .Swoosh reportedly partners with Epic Games’ Fortnite.
On Friday, June 16, Nike’s official Twitter account posted a video tagging Fortnite, an online video game played by approximately 243 million users worldwide, according to Active Player.
The teaser features Fortnite’s and Nike’s Air Max logos put together. Then, the following frame states “Airphoria,” allegedly the name of the upcoming gamified experience. It is followed by Unreal Engine’s and .Swoosh’s logos put together.
The companies have not yet revealed any details of the upcoming release, and we do not know if it is going to be a one-time collaboration or an extended partnership. However, the video suggests that .Swoosh digital assets will appear in Fortnite. In addition, it seems that Nike’s web3 platform might even make art of the broader Unreal Engine system.
According to the Nike’s Twitter, the initiative takes off on June 20.
.Swoosh is Nike’s web3 initiative launched in November 2022. The platform is the “home for Nike’s virtual creations.” Its users have the possibility to co-create the future of the brand and its next-generation phygital garment. In addition, community members can participate in initiatives, attend physical and virtual events, and meet noted athletes and Nike’s designers. .Swoosh customers also have the option to access special drops and exclusive content, pre-order limited items, and compete in community challenges.
As of today, the platform functions in closed beta. Interested individuals can sign up by registering at swoosh.nike.
Earlier this month, .Swoosh announced its upcoming collaboration with the entertainment giant EA Sports. As part of the partnership, .Swoosh digital assets will appear in future EA Sports titles. The collaboration will enable EA Sports’ customers to express their styles through play. However, the companies have not shared which games will include Nike’s virtual creations.
