Fashion Photographer Chen Man Releases an NFT Collection Featuring Grimes
In Brief
Fashion photographer Chen Man is set to release a collection of exclusive NFTs featuring artist Grimes.
The tokens will go for $100 each.
Legendary fashion photographer Chen Man partners with IV Gallery to release her inaugural NFT collection featuring artist and DJ Grimes. Dubbed “Silent Noise: Episode 01,” the collection will go live on LiveArt on May 24 at 3 PM UTC.
LiveArt is a global web3 platform for art and culture founded by Sotheby’s and Christie’s art market veterans and backed by Binance Labs and Animoca Brands.
To develop the collection, Chen Man chose one of the most iconic photographs depicting Grimes one day before she welcomed her child X AE A-Xii into the world. Notably, Grimes and Chen Man both enjoy the pursuit of AI, its beginnings, and its implications. The collection, which will drop on LiveArt, features 500 NFTs. Each will go for $100.
Thanks to her mastery of fashion photography, Chen Man has become an influential contemporary artist. Chen Man has created a visual language that has revolutionized fashion photography in China. She has worked with a variety of world-renowned magazines, including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, iD, and Muse. His works have been spotted by several prominent collectors in England and the United States. In April 2011, Chen Man had a solo exhibition at Beijing Today Art Museum and another one at the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai in the same month. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, and other well-known fashion houses have collaborated with Chen Man.
“This NFT collection has allowed me to have more experimentation with photography. I am much more free to impose my own artistic vision into the genre, to push the limits of photography without any constraints. Photography is a fantasy, it allows one to dream, it allows artists to create new worlds. And in creating new worlds, we transform the way we think about ourselves,” said Chen Man.
