zkSync Era Advances Decentralization by Open Sourcing Key Components to Community
In Brief
zkSync Era has publicly released the source code for its two main components: “Block Explorer” and “Portal (Bridge)”.
zkSync Era has taken significant strides toward promoting network decentralization by officially open sourcing two of its pivotal components: the “Block Explorer” and the “Portal (Bridge)”.
In line with the announcement, these tools are now in the hands of the dedicated core contributor community, diminishing the management role of Matter Labs in the zkSync technology’s continuous development and its burgeoning ecosystem. This move echoes the broader objective of decentralization that zkSync Era has championed, viewing it not as an end goal but an instrumental means to uphold freedom, inclusivity and trust for all its users.

As part of our commitment to network decentralization, we are delighted to announce the open-sourcing of two critical components of zkSync Era. These components will now be entrusted to our dedicated community of core contributors:
Block Explorer ✅
Portal (Bridge) ✅…
Previously open sourced, the zkSync Portal’s recent advancements take the initiative a notch higher. Through a collaboration with @TxFusion_io, users can now benefit from a seamless interface for token bridging and internal Era blockchain transaction views.
The Portal has established itself as the primary access point for users to engage with the protocol, thus any step towards decentralizing its functionalities greatly minimizes the role of Matter Labs.
Now fully open sourced to the community, the Block Explorer provides a critical avenue for users and developers to delve into transactions, blocks, and contract details. Its open-source nature fosters innovation, challenging developers to come up with unique features not previously incorporated.
The integration of renowned blockchain explorers, @blockscoutcom and @l2scan, further extends the opportunity for users to tap into chain data. The overarching intent is to cultivate a diverse set of explorers, each tailored to specific use cases.
Understanding the complexities that come with adopting new tools, zkSync Era has also launched a resource page. This platform aims to guide users and developers in leveraging the alternative solutions available, including diverse bridges and exchanges, ensuring a smooth transition into the zkSync Era landscape.
