Christie’s NFT specialist Noah Davis joins Yuga Labs as the brand lead of CryptoPunks
Noah Davis, head of the NFT team at Christie’s auction, leaves the position in July to join Yuga Labs as a brand lead for CryptoPunks. Davis played a key role in the auction house’s NFT adoption and was involved in Beeple’s $69 million “The First 5,000 Days” NFT sale in March 2021.
In a Twitter post on Sunday, Davis explained his mission for CryptoPunks: “What does that mean? It means no Punks on lunchboxes or cringe TV shows/shitty movies. It means no arbitrary rushed utility or thoughtless airdrops. It means if you love your Punk(s) because they are what they are (just Punks) then you and I see eye to eye…”
He also mentioned his presence at the NFT NYC event this week and called on all CryptoPunks holders to approach him at Punks Brunch and discuss the brand’s future one-on-one.
“We approached Noah Davis, who was responsible for bringing Beeple’s historic The First 5,000 Days to auction at Christie’s, along with the NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT auction which featured Punks and Apes side-by-side in HK,” a co-founder of Yuga Labs said. “In our conversations with Noah, we learned that his vision for Punks and web3 as a whole aligns with our own.”
Right before the announcement, the floor price of CryptoPunks skyrocketed and is currently at 68.4 ETH. In the past seven days, the trading volume of CryptoPunks NFTs increased 680.78%.
Some users on Twitter suspected insider trading of the NFTs in the days leading up to the news.
Davis is also the founder and artist of the Howlerz NFT collection. The 5,000 wolf-themed NFT collection has a floor price of 0.169 ETH and 6,687 ETH in trading volume.
