Meta Unveils Curated VR Game Subscription Service Quest+
In Brief
Meta Quest+ offers access to top-quality VR titles for Quest 2, Quest Pro, and upcoming Quest 3 users.
Subscribers receive two hand-picked games each month.
Subscription is priced at $7.99 per month or $59.99 annually, with a special $1 offer for the first month.
July’s games include “Pixel Ripped 1995” and “Pistol Whip,” while August brings “Walkabout Mini Golf” and “Mothergunship: Forge.”
Meta has introduced Meta Quest+, a VR game subscription service that grants users access to “the best titles on the platform.” With Quest games delivered monthly, Meta Quest+ aims to provide curation and convenience for users of Quest 2, Quest Pro, and the upcoming Quest 3.
While game subscriptions like Microsoft Xbox’s Game Pass and PlayStation’s PS Plus enjoy immense popularity, Meta’s new subscription service sets itself apart by offering a more curated selection of games, emphasizing quality over quantity. Quest+ provides two titles monthly that members can download and retain for as long as their subscription remains active.
In July, subscribers will gain access to games “Pixel Ripped 1995” and “Pistol Whip”, while in August, players can anticipate “Walkabout Mini Golf” by Mighty Coconut and “Mothergunship: Forge” by Terrible Posture Games.
Subscribers can access two selected VR titles every month for $7.99 per month or $59.99 annually. Those who enroll before July 31 will receive the first month for $1. Players can keep each title as long as they subscribe.
The Quest subscription service was already rumored in March. Sources said that Meta planned to offer a new subscription service for VR games and apps, titled Quest Pass. A Twitter user found out about the service through the Quest Android app and shared it online. Meta did not confirm the service before. However, the rumors got right that subscribers would get two extra VR games or apps every month and keep their VR library if they resubscribe.
In other news, Microsoft has launched a public preview of its cloud-based service for rendering complex 3D models on Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro VR headsets. The service, called Azure Remote Rendering (ARR), uses a hybrid approach that combines remote and local rendering to deliver high-quality and interactive 3D content in real-time.
