Gods Unchained, the flagship title of Immutable Games, has launched on the Epic Games Store (EGS). With the launch, Gods Unchained will be accessible by Epic Games’ player base of over 230 million PC users worldwide.
While web2 gamers are known to resist web3 games, Gods Unchained’s availability on Epic Games Store aims to place it on equal footing with other digital Trading Card Games (TCG) such as Hearthstone, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Legends Of Runeterra.
This news follows the trading card game’s recently teased renewed roadmap for 2023, with plans to introduce new features.
To liven up the game meta and experience for players, Gods Unchained will introduce a dozen of different game modes that will rotate periodically, Daniel Paez, Executive Producer of Gods Unchained, told Metaverse Post in an email.
One such mode, Chaos Constructed, is currently being actively developed. In Chaos Constructed, players will have the freedom to use cards from the same domain as their chosen God, removing any limitations.
In addition to implementing various quality-of-life improvements for a better user experience, the team behind Gods Unchained will be exploring new game mechanics, including the “Sealed” game mode, which will be integrated after the Chaos Constructed mode.
The Sealed mode, typically found in traditional TCGs, will make Gods Unchained the first web3 TCG to feature it. Players will participate in a buy-in queue where they construct decks from a pool of 60 randomly selected cards and three Gods.
Sealed Mode in Gods Unchained will challenge players to complete a gauntlet run, aiming for either seven wins or three losses. Rewards will be based on their performance throughout. To add excitement, deck-building restrictions will be lifted, enabling players to include multiple copies of legendary and cross-domain cards from the available card pool
“Some of the other game modes we will be rotating in include 1 Mana Meta, where you can only use one mana cards, Curve Unchained, where you can only bring 10 cards with you, and Divinity, where your god starts with 50 HP, you have an indestructible 3/10 relic, and deck size is 50. As we rotate each game mode, we’ll be taking in player feedback and making adjustments so that each mode refresh feels meaningful and exciting,” Paez revealed exclusively to Metaverse Post.
Following an intensive pre-alpha phase with over 60,000 gameplay and design sessions on Android, Gods Unchained is preparing for a soft launch on Android and iOS devices later this year.
Commenting on the launch of Gods Unchained on Epic Games Store, Paez said: “The main thing we need to do as developers is to create and nurture a game experience and ecosystem that supports a thriving community. That includes taking care of our collectors and long-term fans, as well as quickly getting new players into the thick of an exciting match.”
