Decentraland partners with music platform Lickd
Metaverse company Decentraland partners with pre-licensed music platform Lickd. The company will create soundtracks for Vegas City, the largest commercial zone of the virtual world.
On July 5, the companies signed an exclusive 24-month deal. Lickd will develop curated playlists and introduce genre-specific radio channels into Vegas City’s music player, delivering mainstream music to the Metaverse’s users. The collaboration also includes background sounds for public spaces and venues throughout the district.
Lickd is a company that provides content creators and platforms with fully licensed access to chart music. Previously, the company partnered with Universal Music Group and Sony Music and received a strategic investment from Epic Games and Warner Music Group, among others.
“This is a huge step for Lickd both in terms of expanding our offering into the Metaverse and for the Metaverse itself in terms of being able to simplify the music licensing solution. We could not be happier about teaming up with Vegas City and taking another step towards becoming the best micro-licensing offering in the industry. We continue to deliver cutting-edge solutions that benefit both the platforms and rights holders that we partner with and couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities that this will create,” said the CEO of Lickd Paul Sampson.
In similar news, music streaming giant Spotify partnered with Roblox to create Spotify Island, “a paradise of sound,” in the Metaverse. More than that, the company is implementing NFTs on its platform, meaning that artists will be able to sell limited-edition music using blockchain technology.
