LG partners with Oorbit to integrate interoperable metaverse to smart TVs
In Brief
3D world developer Oorbit has partnered with LG Electronics to bring interoperable virtual worlds to LG smart TVs to make metaverse experiences available in one place.
Metaverse company Oorbit has collaborated with South Korean tech company LG Electronics to bring interoperable virtual worlds to smart TVs. The two companies will blend immersive games and experiences and facilitate interactions in the metaverse.
LG introduced the news for CES 2023, a week after Source Digital and Sansar announced creating the first-ever metaverse experience on LG’s smart TVs. Via the Sansar app on LG webOS TVs, users can join live entertainment events in the customizable 2D and 3D metaverse.
Oorbit enables high-fidelity interconnected metaverses and experiences, including virtual concerts on ELYNXIR from PIXELYNX and AI generative multiplayer games in Auxworld from Auxuman.
Users can also retain the same digital identity from one experience to another and make achievements and purchases transferable between virtual worlds.
Meanwhile, LG has the vision of making the metaverse more accessible to the public through its smart TVs.
“Our proprietary technology is the connective tissue that links virtual worlds together and makes it easy for developers and brands to bring their experiences into the metaverse. Scaling our technology for millions of LG TV customers is the next step in making the metaverse accessible for all,”
said Pooya Koosha, CTO and co-founder of Oorbit.
Oorbit has been developing the world’s first platform that enables diverse metaverse experiences to be available in one place. Users can travel between interoperable metaverses to discover games, entertainment, creative spaces, and more.
In September, LG launched the NFT platform for smart TVs, “LG Art Labs,” built on Hedera. The network enables buying NFTs through LG’s digital asset wallet, Wallypto.
