Yuga Labs and Gucci Introduce “Otherside: Relics by Gucci”
In Brief
Yuga Labs and Gucci introduce the first physical item developed exclusively for the Otherside metaverse players.
The collection features 3,333 KodaPendants, each one going for 450 APE.
The minting starts on April 6 at 6 PM ET.
Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse introduces “Relics by Gucci.” Last week, the Italian fashion brand announced its partnership with the studio behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club and other blue-chip NFT collections.
On April 3, the companies revealed “KodaPendant,” the first item developed as part of the collaboration. The physical pendant is made in the form of a Koda’s head, with a 925 silver antique finish. It features Gucci’s well-known “GG” logo in a Baroque-inspired font. The back is engraved with a physical KodaPendant edition number. In addition, the jewelry comes with a 50-cm-long interlocking G chain.
All holders of Koda or Vessel NFTs will have the option to purchase the “Otherside: Relics by Gucci” items. However, only 3,333 KodaPendants will be available. One piece will go for 450 $APE (approximately $1,925 at the time of writing), and individuals will only be able to pay in Ape Coin.
The sales start on April 6 at 6 PM ET and will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Holders from eligible countries will be able to claim the physical KodaPendants in the summer.
The partnership explores “the intersection of fashion and entertainment in the metaverse,” as well as the relationship between digital and physical. The physical pieces will be backed by NFT artworks that can be downloaded. In addition, holders will have the possibility to use the accessory to dress up their Otherside 3D characters in-game and will be granted access to a branded chat handle and trail VFX.
The release is the first chapter of Yuga Labs’ and Gucci’s long-term partnership. For Yuga, it is a great way to offer its collectors an exclusive and luxurious experience, while for Gucci, the collaboration is an opportunity to promote the brand among gamers and the NFT community.
