Crucible Brings Interoperability to Unity with Emergence SDK Launch for Game Developers

In Brief

Crucible has launched the Emergence software development kit on the Unity Asset Store.

The Emergence SDK allows Unity game developers to use or deploy interoperable avatars, inventory, wallets and player personas.

Crucible, a metaverse solutions provider, has launched the Emergence software development kit (SDK) on the Unity Asset Store

Crucible Brings Interoperability to Unity with Emergence SDK Launch for Game Developers

The Emergence SDK is a web3 toolkit for game developers that allow them to build games on any Ethereum EVM-compatible chain. Unity developers will now have access to the toolkit, which enables them to access We3 features such as retrieving or saving blockchain records, connecting with wallets, deploying interoperable avatars, or creating player profiles in their games.

Crucible developed the Emergence SDK with its partner, Open Meta Association, and is now a Verified Solutions Provider on Unity. This designation indicates that Emergence is a professional-grade solution which can play a key part in long-term, scalable projects. The Emergence SDK has undergone a vigorous review process to ensure that it meets Unity’s highest standards for quality and usability.

Unity launched its new Decentralized section of Unity’s Asset Store Marketplace earlier this year. As Web3 is new for developers, and the technology is still in its beginning days, Unity made the decision to limit the Tools & Platforms shared to those that pass its Verification Process, Crucible CEO Ryan Gill divulged.

“We worked with Unity’s QA team closely, who tested it for 65 different use cases to ensure that Emergence was fully functional for Unity Developers. They also tested it for security, an important consideration for Web3,” Gill told Metaverse Post in an email. “This ensures that developers who use Emergence will be getting a robust and scalable product, for both Mac and Windows, and that it has also gone through extensive testing and security validation.”

With the Emergence SDK launch on Unity, the toolkit will be able to reach over 230,000 developers who have published over 750,000 games on the gaming engine, allowing them to easily tap into Web3 features to create new gaming experiences.

“The media tends to associate ‘web3 games’ with NFTs, but what Emergence does is support a much broader view – that web3 is about creating experiences for players that leverage web3 capabilities for interoperability, ownership, identity, commerce and game assets. One of the really exciting things about Unity specifically is its focus on cross-platform support, whether you want to create a mobile game, AR or a PC experience. By adding web3 capabilities, that cross-platform support can now include interoperable content,”

Gill explained.

In July, Crucible launched the Emergence SDK on Unreal Engine and the toolkit has already amassed 33,000 downloads. With the toolkit being available on both Unreal and Unity, game features can be interoperable across both game engines.

Aleissia Laidacker, Crucibles Head of Product and Technology, adds, “By creating the architecture for both Unity and Unreal, we’re helping to make the implementation of web3 easy, robust, and to allow for interoperability across any game engine, platform and blockchain.”
