Casio announces a VR-inspired G-Shock

Casio announces a VR-inspired G-Shock

The VR-inspired Casio GMWB5000TVB1 is the watch to wear when plugged into the Metaverse. Designed to look like something out of a futuristic freight liner or a robot’s digestive tract, the watch is made of gold, black, and white materials expertly melted to make a surprisingly cool whole.

The watch, which costs a cool $1,700, features Tough Solar charging and laser etched markings.

Why is it so expensive? This G-Shock is made of relatively difficult-to-manufacture metals and materials and is part of the Full Metal Virtual Armor series, a higher end series in the relatively affordable G-Shock line.

“In order to create the unique color-combination on the new timepiece, a seven-step layering, masking, and engraving process is utilized. Signature elements, including small text laser engraving on the entire metal body and perforated design on the case and band links have been carried over from the first model for a cohesive look across the series. The new style also boasts a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and a titanium body with TIC (titanium carbide) coating, providing added scratch resistance without sacrificing style,” writes Casio.

Luckily you’ll never have to take your hands out of your haptic gloves to set this thing: it sets itself automatically via your phone’s Bluetooth connection. You can check the watch out here.
