Google’s AI chatbot Bard can now understand YouTube Videos in real time, with the ability to respond to questions on the video content.
Google announced that its AI chatbot – Bard, can now understand YouTube Videos in real time. Previously, Bard had the capability to analyze YouTube videos, but with the latest update, it can actively respond to questions pertaining to the video content.
In a recent blog post, Google stated, “We’re taking the first steps in Bard’s ability to understand YouTube videos. For example, if you’re looking for videos on how to make olive oil cake, you can now also ask how many eggs the recipe in the first video requires.”
The company emphasized a desire for deeper engagement with YouTube videos, expanding the YouTube Extension to enhance conversations with Bard about video content.
Moreover, a YouTube Extension for Bard was initially launched in September, primarily allowing users to search for specific videos.
To activate the YouTube extension in Bard, users can visit the Bard homepage and tap on the puzzle icon in the top right corner. Subsequently, users will encounter multiple options and can activate the YouTube toggle to enable the extension. Once activated, users can request a summary of any YouTube video by simply copying and pasting the link on the Bard homepage.
In addition to these updates, Google Bard has extended its access to teenagers in various countries, implementing age-appropriate protections to ensure a positive user experience.
“We believe Bard can be a helpful tool for teens when they need a little extra inspiration and motivation on their ideas, hobbies, and plans, or when they want to better understand topics quickly in a style that works for them. Whether it’s learning homework concepts or getting support through big milestones like applying to their first job or preparing for college, Bard can help,” said Google, in a official statement.
Google’s Bard a Tough Competitor to ChatGPT
Google’s announcement to add new features to Bard comes at a time when its rival, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has introduced a new voice feature for all its users. This feature allows users to tap on the microphone and verbally pose queries. Initially available only to paid users in September, the voice feature is now accessible to all smartphone users globally, and it is offered free of charge.
In October, Google improved Bard making it more user-friendly and innovative, and integrated the AI chatbot with Google apps, supporting content collaboration and offering additional language support, among other features.
According to the tech giant, one of the important enhancements is Bard’s ability to access real-time information from Google apps like Maps, YouTube, Hotels and Flights to help users collect information from different sources and bring their ideas to life quickly, whether it’s for trip planning, research or creative work.
Moreover, Bard now integrates with Gmail, Docs and Drive — allowing personal content interactions which allow users to find, summarize and answer questions within their own Google Workspace data, all while ensuring privacy and control over Bard’s access.
