Glean has introduced fresh generative AI features that aim to elevate search and exploration functions across businesses
In Brief
Glean, a company that provides intelligent search and discovery solutions for knowledge workers, announced on Tuesday a suite of new features that use AI to synthesize and surface relevant information.
On Tuesday, Glean, a corporation that offers intelligent search and discovery solutions for knowledge workers, revealed a set of fresh characteristics that employ artificial intelligence (AI) to combine and present significant data from all over an enterprise.
Glean’s exclusive knowledge model underpins its features that are designed to increase the precision and safety of corporate data and content. Additionally, they aim to elevate employee productivity and teamwork, especially in situations where remote or hybrid work environments are prevalent.
Glean offers two noteworthy features – AI answers and expert detection. The former generates a brief and accurate response to a natural language query, utilizing content from multiple sources while adhering to contextual relevance and organizational permissions. Meanwhile, expert detection leverages Glean’s analysis of content, activity, and relationships to identify and connect users with subject matter experts within their company.
Another characteristic, known as in-context recommendations, can offer users supplementary material and background information that pertains to the specific asset they are working on, whether it’s a presentation or document.
During an interview with VentureBeat, Arvind Jain, the CEO of Glean, emphasized the importance of accuracy and security in their product. Glean’s governance engine is designed to ensure that users are only able to access information that they are authorized to view based on their existing permissions in the source systems. This feature gives customers the assurance that all their enterprise data permissions and governance rules are being strictly enforced in real-time.
Tailored to meet the needs of businesses, this product has been designed with enterprise customers in mind. The focus is on delivering a professional solution that meets the demands of the corporate world. No details have been overlooked in creating a product that is optimized for enterprise use.
Jain, a renowned Google engineer, established Glean in the year 2020. Recently, the company revealed that it had received a $100 million series C funding round, causing its valuation to reach $1 billion. Glean boasts over 70 clients from diverse sectors such as technology, media, education, and healthcare.
Jain, speaking to VentureBeat in a professional tone, emphasized the vast potential of AI in revolutionizing how we work. By providing easy access to information and eliminating the need for employees to search for it, AI can greatly enhance productivity and efficiency in the workplace.
In his statement, he emphasized the importance of taking a careful approach while implementing AI in the workplace, and ensuring that employees receive accurate and relevant information. Glean, being a professional organization, considers accuracy, security, and referenceability as the key factors to be taken into account while utilizing any AI tool in the enterprise.
Enhanced efficiency leading to reduced expenses is the desired outcome. This aims to maintain a professional approach towards achieving the objective.
As per the findings of a McKinsey & Company report, employees engaged in knowledge work spend nearly one-fifth of their working hours in searching for and collecting data, resulting in a staggering loss of $1 trillion annually in productivity. However, the report also highlights that the implementation of AI can effectively cut down this time by 35%, leading to a 6% increase in revenue.
Glean has developed a reliable knowledge framework that caters to the precision, protection and reference capabilities required by businesses. The framework, which was crafted over a period of four years, is founded on three key elements: organizational knowledge and context, authorization and data management, as well as comprehensive reference capability.
The process involves retraining deep learning language models (LLMs) using the company’s specific knowledge base, while implementing real-time data permissions and governance regulations. Additionally, it provides clear visibility into the source of each piece of information and how each response is generated. Jain stresses that in order for generative AI to be useful in the business world, it must be built upon a solid search foundation.
- OpenAI’s ChatGPT language model plugin is adding new plugins to expand the platform’s capabilities. The plugins connect ChatGPT to thirdparty applications to provide the platform with additional capabilities, including realtime and knowledge-based information.
- Marketing automation platform Soci has raised $120 million in the latest funding round. The funding will be used to enhance its AI capabilities, mergers and acquisitions, and further international expansion.
