Blur Co-founder “Pacman” Reveals His Identity
In Brief
The co-founder of NFT marketplace Blur has revealed his identity in a Twitter thread
“Pacman” turns out to be Tieshun Roquerre, a high school and MIT dropout who has previously founded Namebase.
One of the anonymous founders of the NFT marketplace Blur has revealed his identity. The co-founder of Blur, “Pacman,” doxxed himself after a crypto Twitter user named NFTethics published a tweet about how easy it was to discover the anonymous founder’s identity.
The user explained that the marketplace is funded by venture firm Paradigm, which also funded another startup founded by Pacman and his colleague.
So, Pacman turns out to be Tieshun Roquerre, a 24-year-old living in San Francisco.
When he was 17, Roquerre dropped out of high school to go through Y Combinator with his first company, StrongIntro. Following that, he studied math and computer science at MIT. In 2018, Roquerre started Namebase, and in 2019 he received Thiel Fellowship for the startup. In 2021, Tieshun Roquerre and the second co-founder of Namebase sold the company to Namecheap. After that, they founded Blur.
Notably, Roquerre claims that he previously doxxed himself in one-on-one calls with other industry players to get trust or when “the vibes were good.”
Pacman’s identity reveal will most probably add more credibility to Blur. Twitter users also believe the event will likely make the platform an even stronger competitor to OpenSea. Earlier this week, Blur already surpassed the largest NFT marketplace in terms of trading volume, having reached $98.59 million in volume and with an average price of almost $2,000 per token, according to DappRadar.
