In Brief
Mike Seavers joins Yuga Labs from Epic Games, where he was the Executive Vice President of Development.
Prior to joining Epic Games in 2021, Seavers was CTO of Riot Games.
Yuga Labs hired Seavers for his proven track record in elevating organizations to new heights.
Yuga Labs has announced that game industry veteran Mike Seavers will be starting a new role at the company on May 22 as Chief Technology Officer. He will be taking over the role from Yuga Labs’ current CTO and co-founder Kerem Atalay, who will remain with the company as a close strategic advisor.
Seavers joins Yuga Labs from Epic Games, where he served as the Executive Vice President of Development and led the product development across Unreal Engine, Online Services, Epic Games Store, Fortnite Engineering, Infrastructure, Data, Security, and QA.
Before working at Epic Games in 2021, Seavers held various leadership roles at Riot Games, which culminated in a CTO role from 2017 until 2020, during which he directly led the company’s engineering, product, production, security, IT, and QA departments. At Riot Games, he also provided technical leadership to support “League of Legends”, “Valorant”, “Legends of Runeterra”, and more.
Besides his experience in gaming, Seavers was a project manager and software engineer at companies like Mastercard and AT&T during the earlier years of his career. Yuga Labs hired him for his proven track record in pushing organizations to the next stage of growth.
“We have an opportunity to be the web3 platform at the forefront of community and social engagement, through media and entertainment, and Mike’s expertise will help us scale to achieve that,” said Daniel Alegre, CEO of Yuga Labs. “I am also delighted that Yuga Labs will continue to benefit from Kerem’s innovative thinking and technical expertise. He has been instrumental in building our company and community into what it is today.”
Yuga Labs has been making new hires across web2 and web3 as the company continues to put storytelling, experiences, and community at the forefront of its offerings. Before joining Yuga Labs as CEO last December, Alegre was the President and COO at Activision. The company has also hired individuals from Google, Oculus, Twitter, Apple, Dune Games, Monolith Gaming, WB Gaming, Microsoft, Coinbase, and American Express.
