AC Milan partners with MonkeyLeague to develop a Web3 game and an NFT collection
In Brief
AC Milan and MonkeyLeague will develop an NFT collection and a blockchain-based NFT game
The auction will take place on NFT marketplace Magic Eden on October 6
The NFTs will feature digital assets and exclusive physical merch
Italian football club AC Milan partners with Web3 football game MonkeyLeague to create a Solana blockchain-based NFT game and release an NFT collection. The companies will introduce AC Milan-branded NFT gaming assets, limited-edition wearables, game tournaments, and co-marketing events. “Rossoneri” will also host exclusive football initiatives. For instance, Milan players will playtest the upcoming game.
The release is scheduled for October 6. Individuals will have the opportunity to participate in the auction for one of the sixteen MonkeyPlayer NFTs on the marketplace Magic Eden.
It’s worth noting that several digital assets will come with physical AC Milan jerseys signed by the entire football club exclusively for the collaboration.
The partnership with MonkeyLeague is not the first Web3 initiative of AC Milan, either. In January 2021, the football team released an NFT campaign and AC Milan Fan Token in collaboration with the sports rewards platform socios.com.
“We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with MonkeyLeague, a collaboration that allows us to strengthen our positioning in the field of digital innovation. We are particularly proud to be the first football club to partner with MonkeyLeague, bringing this game to our supporters around the world and offering them a new innovative way to engage with their favourite team,”
said the Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan, Casper Stylsvig.
MonkeyLeague is an AAA-quality esports strategy football game based on the Solana blockchain. In July, UnCaged Studios, the developers of MonkeyLeague, raised $24 million in a Series A round led by Griffin Gaming Partners and Maverick Ventures Israel. The company is using the funds to continue growing the blockchain-based gaming industry.
