  • Microsoft has released a diffusion model capable of generating a 3D avatar from a single photo of a person. The 3D Avatar Diffusion is built on a machine-learning algorithm called a diffusion model. Since diffusion models are generative, they can generate new data similar to the training data. Diffusion models have previously been used to generate 3D images from 2D images, but the ADM is the first to produce a realistic 3D avatar from a single 2D image.
