Singapore, February 1st, 2024 – Astar Network, a web3 infrastructure platform widely known for its roots in Japan and recent expansion into the global market, is thrilled to announce the mainnet launch of Astar zkEVM Powered by Polygon, a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The launch will take place in late February, and will be followed by a uniquely original launch campaign, “Yoki Origins”.
Astar zkEVM provides web3 projects and enterprises with a secure, scalable, and gas-efficient platform leveraging the security and rich toolset of the Ethereum ecosystem. As the first zero-knowledge EVM chains powered by the Polygon CDK (Chain Development Kit), Astar zkEVM provides exposure to Ethereum’s expansive developer resources and industry-standard infrastructure providers.
A variety of crypto-native projects and service providers are already using it to build experiences, not limited to:
- Quickswap: The leading DEX on Polygon
- LayerZero: An omnichain interoperability protocol that creates the full interoperability between Astar zkEVM and the Astar parachain
- The Graph: An indexing protocol for organizing blockchain data and making it easily accessible with GraphQL
- Rarible: The aggregated NFT marketplace for Ethereum NFTs and Astar zkEVM NFTs
- Dew: One of the biggest NFT marketplaces in the Polygon ecosystem
- Startale: Startale Labs, Astar’s leading web3 infra provider.
Many of Japan’s leading enterprises will also publicly integrate with Astar zkEVM and bring exclusive use cases to the Astar community.
Yoki Origins- Astar zkEVM mainnet launch campaign
The mainnet launch will be followed immediately by Astar Network’s ‘Yoki Origins’, a journey for users to discover Astar Network’s original characters inspired by Japanese Yokais “Yokis”, together with more than 40 web3 projects, creators, and enterprises. Immediately following the mainnet launch, users are invited to collect and upgrade Yokis while projects on Astar zkEVM. The interactive Capsule Machines, known as “Yo-Ports”, allow users to acquire Yokis and artwork prepared by artists, enterprises, and builders. The campaign is also designed to support social logins and credit card payments, allowing anyone to participate even without prior knowledge of web3.
Astar Network will begin announcing the participating projects, which will feature international brands and talents, shortly. By joining the campaign, users will be welcomed with a number of Yo-Ports that are customized for each project, discoverable by the brand name and logo featured.
“Astar Network is proud to be an early pioneer in the use of Polygon’s zero-knowledge technology and Chain Development Kit to enter the Ethereum ecosystem. Astar zkEVM will establish a bridge between Japan and the broader web3 ecosystem, with projects by top Japanese enterprises, famous IPs, and prominent industries to be unveiled soon. The Astar zkEVM launch campaign “Yoki Origins” will help demonstrate the extent of our ecosystem’s reach, while celebrating our Japanese origins in a way that’s uniquely Astar.”
