Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset, which will have up to ten cameras, will cost up to $3,000

In Brief

Apple’s new Mixed Reality Headset will cost between $2,000 and $3,000

Apple seeking 3D content developer for mixed reality

Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset won’t be available until the following year and will cost between $2,000 and $3,000, according to an investigation by Bloomberg. It is anticipated that this will be a high-end product with a Mac-level M2 chip and more than 10 cameras both inside and outside the device.

Messages, FaceTime, and Maps will all be available in mixed reality on the device’s new “realityOS” operating system, which will power the gadget. The initial iteration of the operating system, code-named Oak, is being worked on internally and ought to be ready for new hardware by the end of the next year.

Another crucial element is the prospective name of the product. Apple is the party behind the trademark applications for “Reality Pro” and “Reality One,” indicating that the business is debating between the two names for the product. Given the name of the operating system and current Apple AR development tools like RealityKit, the moniker “Reality” makes appropriate.

It’s also become known that Apple is stepping up its efforts to promote the gadget with content thanks to the job listings the company has posted over the past few months. The business is looking for a software developer with knowledge of game asset pipelines and visual effects that can produce digital content for augmented and virtual reality settings.

A headgear video service with 3D content that can be played in virtual reality is also suggested by the listings as being something Apple intends to develop. The job posting that directly refers to the creation of a 3D mixed reality world is the most intriguing; it suggests that Apple is engaged in the building of a virtual setting akin to Zuckerberg’s Metaverse.
