Adidas Originals and FEWOCiOUS Partner for NFT-Backed Sneakers
In Brief
Adidas Originals has partnered with artist FEWOCiOUS for NFT-backed physical sneakers.
The NFT collection, dubbed “Trefoil Flower Mint Pass,” will go live on June 22.
German sportswear brand adidas Originals have partnered with renowned artist FEWOCiOUS for NFT-backed physical sneakers. The two will release a limited-edition collection of the “Trefoil Flower Mint Pass” tokens linked to IRL items. NFT owners will have the possibility to acquire exclusive Campus 00’s sneakers designed by FEWOCiOUS. The kicks feature a black and white “linework” makeover and a thick, blue and white cloud pattern lace.
The collection goes live on June 22 on the NFT marketplace OpenSea. Notably, the “FEWOCiOUS x FewoWorld: Paint” NFT owners, as well as holders of ALTS by adidas “Decos” and “Soles” non-fungible tokens, will receive early access to the mint.
This is the first time that adidas issues a token-gated, near-field communication chip-incrusted item. The NFC tags enable the brand to link the kicks to the collection of non-fungible tokens, which provide holders with more benefits.
With this move, the brand joins another sportswear giant Nike, which has dropped several NFC-tagged clothing pieces and shoes throughout the past two years.
FEWOCiOUS, real name Victor Langlois, is a 20-year-old artist known for his bold aesthetic, playful style, and personal approach. Notably, Langlois has already worked with Adidas before – in December 2022, he released an installation during Art Basel Miami in partnership with adidas /// Studio (Three Stripes Studio).
“Working with adidas is a real dream come true. I can’t believe I was paintin’ adidas shoes in my bedroom by myself four years ago and now I get to officially collaborate with them! This is one of the longest projects I’ve ever worked on and keeping things a secret is so hard I just want to scream it from the rooftops! I really believe in the future of fashion and footwear and the intersection of digital and physical, and I’m so excited for these to see the world and for everyone to be part of that journey with me,” said Victor Langlois, aka FEWOCiOUS.
